Treasure...

Everyone has treasure, and this is mine.
My pastel blue, embossed Wedgewood crockery set which was given to me by my gorgeous fiance after finding it in an antique dealers collection. Unlike most treasure this one is always used when I have tea because if there's one thing I love more than treasures, it's being able to share them with friends :)

Chilli Choc-mint tea...

This one is not for the faint hearted. I have an abundance of chillies growing at the moment and what they lack in size they make up for in flavor. I quite enjoy chilli, but these little guy's are an extreme punch in the mouth! As I've recently found chocolate is a perfect accompaniment to chilli, so while debating what to do with them all, I decided to brew some chocolate mint leaves from my garden with these little flavor bombs and what a match made in heaven it is! The chocolate mint fragrance is oh so sweet while the bite of the chilli lingers for only a few seconds. It is much unlike the experience of actually eating them and I doubt I'll be drinking anything else all week, especially with rainy days predicted...

Trim those old T's...

This one...

Found at Salvo's.
Foraged for a pair of Scissors.
Forged the look from a friend.

My gorgeous friend Dominique bought some over sized T's recently and cut larger arm holes in them to grunge them up. Wish I'd thought of it first!

Paper peonies...

I love having flowers around the house, but my budget doesn't always allow for these kind of indulgences and there isn't always a fresh supply growing in the garden. I had some friends coming over for afternoon tea a few weeks ago and so decided to give these little cherubs a go using tissue paper, a glue stick and a few bamboo skewers. While they don't exactly look like peonies, they still do a beautiful job of brightening up any table!

Indulge...

Chocolate mint mini mud cakes...
go perfectly with my current coffee table crush - Donna Hay.

Why reinvent the will? I see no point recreating a cupcake mix when there are plenty of affordable and fool proof cake mixes out there. If you have the time to practice making cakes from scratch that are better then these then I envy you! These decadent babies were whipped up today using a simple store bought chocolate cake mix and iced with a homemade peppermint buttercream icing. It's so simple!

If you ask me, chocolate and mint is a match made in heaven!

My current addiction...

Honeycomb. The ingredients can be found in your pantry and its practically foolproof to make if you can get the timing right!

1/2 cup of honey
1 1/2 cups of white sugar
1/4 cup of water
2 teaspoons of bicarbonate soda

- Line a deep lamington tray with grease proof paper, making sure it covers not only the base but the sides as well.
- Place honey, sugar and water in a deep saucepan and cook on a medium high temperature until it emulsifies and comes to the boil (between 1-2 minutes).
- Boil for about 4-5 minutes watching closely for a colour change from blonde to amber.
- Quickly sift in the bicarbonate soda, whisk it for a few seconds (it will puff up like crazy!) and pour it into the lamington tray.
- It will cool down and be ready to crack and devour in half an hour.

Simple right!

There are just two tips I always have to remember:
1. As soon as the colour changes to amber throw in the bicarb, if you leave it for just a few more seconds it will be burnt.
2. Store it in an air tight container in the freezer, this will keep it nice and dry.

Revamping the old...

I am always on the lookout for furniture in junk piles, particularly chairs. It is amazing what you can do with a staple gun and a quick trip to your local discounted material store.
After cleaning this faded bucket seat i found on the side of the road and literally waving it's old owner goodbye, i bought some regal looking material for $3 a metre and it only took me a day to cover!

It has already paid for itself! I literally found $2 underneath the seat :) happy days...

The begining...

Follow every whim is a chance for me to express my creative side. Whether it's cooking, sewing or simply sharing inspiring things it's always fun to follow a whim...
